'Deep Sea and Shallows', 22cm and 29cm 'Spade' vases, 20cm and 28cm 'Cowbell' vase, 30cm 'Eye' dish, 40cm long 'Trilby', 'Bouquet' and cylinders, blue/pink, 23cm, 19cm Blue/turquoise 'Bone' vessels, 44cm

A combination of slab-built and slipcast vases and dishes form Tessa Wolfe Murray's batch production. The present range is made from white earthenware clay and is  based on her slip-decorated,smoke fired surfaces which have been in production since 1990.

The influence of shapes comes from drawing museum artefacts, shields, church plate, Japanese kimonos resulting in a range of elliptical forms. Decoration is drawn from observing layering effects found in the eroding surfaces of decaying city landscapes and seaside flotsam.

This is  achieved with a combination of strong brushstroked  and  finely sprayed slip, finished by smoke firing the high fired surface.
