Batch produced slab-built range

Tessa Wolfe Murray is at present best known for her slab-built vases and dishes as she has been making and developing her present range since 1989. The first influence of shapes came from drawing museum artefacts, shields, church plate, Japanese kimonos and resulted in a range of elliptical forms.

Decoration came from observing the layering effect found in eroding surfaces of decaying city landscapes and seaside flotsam. This was achieved on surfaces with a layering of slips using strong brushstrokes and fine sprays finished by smokefiring the high fired surface.
